All this talk of poems, tippy toes, and cats reminding me of one poem I read in high school and still think is one of the best - perhaps because it is so short and the change is subtle:
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

Enjoy your trip through what I consider "God's country". Sample the varied BBQ styles in the region and stop at a roadside stand for some boiled peanuts. They will change your life!
Indeed change... always there, always asking, is today the day? But cats that a whole different story isn't it. Just give them a comfortable place to lay :-)
Change is often daunting but worth diving into. May you find new directions/options during your travels. I often find that being on the road opens my mind to all the possibilities.
You will have a wonderful drive to the Carolinas! If you need a little detour, Zoë is attending college at Montreat, and (based on all her photos) the campus is beautiful! Glad the kitties are getting used to each other. I hadn't heard the latest about Oscar.

I look forward to having my life changed! 😁
always loved that poem!
I agree. The kind of change you don't choose is the hardest to deal with. Hope you're having a great road trip (without too many unexpected changes)!
So far, rain is the main complication. Not thoroughly unexpected, but it drives changes in plans.

The whole house is a comfortable place for them to sleep! They choose; we accommodate. 😊
Double the kitty trouble!
You know it!
Always enjoyable writing - thank you.
A small change is a new treat for my cat. She's never been responsive before. Now though when I say we're getting the new treat, she comes running :)
That sounds fun. Our new cat loves batting toys around the floor, which is fun to watch.

I hope so! I've got my travel diary with me to capture what I can.

We haven't really traveled in the Carolinas, so I'm looking forward to it. I hear it's all beautiful.
